Room 1: The Entrance
Dinner at Seven, The Entrance, Friday, 5:57 PM
Where You Are
It's 5:57 on a Friday evening, and your grandparents are driving in for dinner at 7:00. It's the first family dinner in months. Mom is making Grandpa's favorite, chicken parmesan. She gets home at 6:30 to start cooking, but only if the groceries are already there.
Mom got stuck at work, so she texted you the grocery list. She typed it in a hurry, and the store's app jumbled everything into one long, random mess.
Your brother can pick you up at 6:15, but only for a minute. He's heading to a 6:30 shift and can't wait. Miss him, and you're walking home carrying melting ice cream.
You push through the front doors. Priya, the teen who works as the self checkout attendant, spots your panicked face and waves you over. "Big night?" she asks. You show her the list. She counts it. "Twelve items. That's exactly the express lane limit. Here's the trick: match every item to its department in the app, and it builds your fastest route through the store. Six minutes to sort, five to shop, four to check out, three to the curb. You can make 6:15."
She taps your phone. Twelve items appear, each one waiting for its department.
Match the List
This room works like a matching question in a Canvas quiz: a list of items, and each item has its own dropdown of answers. Every dropdown has the same 10 departments.
You can use a department more than once, and some departments are not used at all. In real quizzes, a dropdown may not say which item it belongs to, so get in the habit of reading the item text before each box.
Use the Review My Matches button to check that nothing is left unmatched before you submit.
Sound effects play during the room, including timer warnings and feedback on your answers. Turn them off here before starting if you prefer silence.
Mom's List: Match Each Item to Its Department
Match each item to its department. Departments can be used more than once, and some may not be used.
